USER LICENCES

A radiation use licence authorises the holder to use specified types of radiation sources for a specified purpose, such as ionising radiation apparatus, radioactive material or sealed sources. Our radiation safety specialists can assist individuals to obtain radiation use licences. We can also assist institutions in reviewing the staff radiation use licences to ensure all practices are within the licence conditions. We can also provide a fully managed services to notify you and your staff when their licence is due to expire. This ensures that there is never a lapse in a licence.

RADIATION SAFETY AND MANAGEMENT PLANS

A radiation management plan provides an institution with requirements and best practice advice to ensure all staff and visitors are safe around the use of radiation. Our radiation safety specialists can review your radiation management plan and provide advice and recommendations for improvement and implementation. Or, we can work with you to develop a radiation management plan from scratch to suit your workplace.

CODE OF PRACTICE

It is a requirement to comply with the ARPANSA Code of Practice for Radiation Protection in Dentistry (2005). Our radiation safety specialists can conduct a radiation safety audit against the Code. Our services include providing recommendations for improvement as well as working with you and your team to ensure your facility has the best practice

RADIATION SHIELDING DESIGN

Our medical physicists can complete a radiation shielding design for new facilities or when you are replacing a unit to ensure that all your staff, patients and visitors are safe. We can also determine the existing shielding at your practice and assist with licencing your practice.

DOSE CALCULATIONS

From imaging the wrong patient or pregnant patients to abnormal personal radiation monitoring results, we can complete a radiation dose assessment and provide advice on regulatory reporting requirements and patient follow-up.

PERSONAL RADIATION MONITORING

Do you or your staff have concerns with your personal radiation monitoring? Our radiation safety specialists can review your staff radiation dose history and investigate any abnormal exposures. We can also advise on who should be allocated a personal radiation monitor and who does not need one with the reasons why.

REGULATORY REPORTING

Regulatory reporting is required in a number of instances. From imaging the wrong patient or pregnant patients to abnormal personal radiation monitoring results, we can assist in completing dosimetry and investigation into the event to improve your radiation practice.

QUALITY CONTROL PROGRAMS

Are you a practice that strives for best practice? Quality control (QC) programs can ensure that your team are always aware that your units are working optimally and identify any potential issues prior to it impacting clinical images. Our medical physicists can facilitate implementing a QC program tailored for your practice. We can also provide ongoing support for questions and provide advice when an issue is identified.
